If you ever wondered what happens when 500,000 people pass through a place on earth, mostly on covered wagons, well, the Oregon Trail can provide a myriad of evidence of the result. The paths cut into the limestone in Wyoming still show today the evidence of the passage of the wagons, in which many many people traveled the trail to Oregon Territory.
